Exhibition " expo ARTEXTURES" by Artist Mr. Bamba Sourang at the Exhibition Gallery of Mauritius Museums Council, Mauritius Institute Building, Chaussée Port Louis.

Mr. Bamba Sourang has maintained a strong interest with the island of Mauritius for more than 16 years and has shared his feelings through his personal art works with the Mauritians.
The exhibition has been organised by the Prime Minister's Office in collaboration with the Ministry of Arts and Culture and the Mauritius Museums Council and inaugurated by Hon. Mookhesswur Choonee, GOSK, Minister of Arts and Culture on 19th June 2014
INTERNATIONAL MUSEUM DAY 2014
In the context of the International Museum Day, the theme retained by the ICOM for year 2014 is “Museum collections make connection”.
To mark the International Museum Day 2014, the Mauritius Museums Council organized the following activities:
1. Opening of a ‘Nature Gallery’
The official opening of a new Gallery named as the “Nature Gallery” which is the third gallery of the Natural History Museum, Chaussée, Port Louis. The Gallery has been inaugurated by the Chief Guest, Honourable Mookhesswur Choonee, in the presence of the Chairman of the Mauritius Museums Board on 29 May 2014.
The objective of this “Nature Gallery” is to inculcate the importance and the necessity to preserve nature among the visitors. The Gallery depicts different worldwide minerals, fossils, endangered specimens in the ocean for example, the aquatic mammal, the Dugong, a beautiful exhibition on horns and antlers and a display on some birds and eggs in their habitats.

SALON DU LIVRE – CONFLUENCE 2014
In the context of ‘Confluence’ event which showcased books through the “Salon du Livre” from 06 to 09 March 2014 at the Swami Vivekananda International Conference Centre, the Mauritius Museums Council participated by displaying panels on Robert Edward Hart and his personal effects, the Prime Minister who paid a visit to the stand of the Mauritius Museums Council in the presence of Mrs Segolin Royal, writer and politician, Hon. Mookhesswar Choonee, Minister of Arts and Culture, Chairman and Senior officers of Mauritius museums Council.
The aim of the exhibition was to raise awareness on the literary work and the life achievement of Robert Edward Hart as a great author and poet and his immense contribution to the cultural landscaping of Mauritius.
